Hello

I have a three year old house that has suddenly started making a high pitch noise from the pipes under the sink, this is where the mains comes into the house. So everytime water is used in the house the noise begins. Nothing for three years now this.

Any ideas / advice...thanks

Try adjusting the stopcock, if that doesn't work try changing the washer.

As someone who knows nothing when it comes to pipes etc.....the blue mains pipe comes in under the floor, then it joins the stopcock, then it goes upto the sink & through the wall off everywhere else. What washer do youy mean.

Also the only point I can turn my water off at seems to be this stopcock. No point outside is that right? The whole estate is the smae. All thats outside is the water metre down a hole.

The washer is in the stopcock at the end of the blue pipe. There should be a place to turn off the water in the meter hole. It may be the valve there is not open enough.
