Noisey Pipes

Wondering if anyone can help me, I have just moved into a new flat and we have a combination boiler. Whenever we turn the heating on all the pipes start creaking and banging, and remain to do so on and off until the heating is switched off!! This does not happen when the hot water is running, even though it comes off the same system. Any ideas???
