We have a mixer bath tap with shower attachment, when running the hot tap on full it make a loud honnnnnnnnnnnnk noise locally to the tap. When the shower button is pulled it stops. if we turn down the hot tap a lot it stops, if we deduce the cold water mains pressure via the stop cock it stops but all then the pressure to all other taps is too poor (unvented hot water system). When a plumber was round sorting out our hot water cylinder he said that its the flow to the hot tap of the bath that was causing it.
The pipes to the bath are 15mm copper out of the floor then change to plastic push fit as they lead to the bath tails (approx. 1m). For a temporary fix an inline isolator valve has been fitted and turned down until the hot tap doesn't honk, however this means the flow from the hot tap is puny.
Is this is tap itself causing this? A friend said its got something to so with the tap not being suited for 15mm pipe and should be 22mm but I'm not sure this sound right at all. We are considering changing the tap anyway so want to make sure I buy something that may help with the issue.
Thanks in advance for any assistance!
