noisy computer

when i turned my computer on it made a beeping sound like an alarm and it kept trying to start up but failed i give it a bang and the noise stopped and it was ok what could it be im baffled

Usually you tend to get the beeping when there is a BIOS or a checksum error. Not entirely sure what causes it though - I get them, reboot the machine and all is well.

Depending upon the make of your motherboard the beep error warnings are different.

It's possibly a fan failure warning. Open the case and check they are running and dust free.

I give my tower a good kicking now and again .........
