my boiler is a glow worm swift flow 80
g.c. no. 4731310
gas boiler
dont know how old the boiler is moved into the house in january recently done my kitchen and removed all plaster whilst doing around the central heating wires i turn the fused mains switch on the wall off it was off for about 2 months and when i turned it on a today when the heating is run or when hot water is run the boiler vibrates and makes a loud noise as if like all the pipes are vibrating its very loud and even when it is not being used (water/heating) it is still louder than it used to be
it used to be practically silent
i have unwired the switch and the timer but i copied down the wiring and put all wires back in the exact same places
the boiler is upstairs and the switch and the timer are down stairs dont know the make of the timer.

Too tired to try to read text without full stops and capital letters. Since you're asking us to go to some trouble to help you, perhaps you could first go to the trouble of writing in sentences.

how do i check if its the pump that has gone?
the other guy said that he'd put some silencer in it will that not work with my boiler i dont have alot of money at the moment so if you can suggest a cheap alternative that would be great.
i hope to get a new boiler next year

put your hand on it or put a screwdriver on it and your ear on the other end

does it sound rough ? if so its kerry packered

might be crud settled in the heat exchanger as well

the boiler its slef doesnt sound rough just like the usual noise is being
amplified ten time louder. what is the exchanger?? Ive seen some
descaler stuff for boilers would this clean out the crud whilst doing my
kitchen i took one of the radiator off and it was full of black crap would
that have anything to do with it i haven't yet put that radiator back on
would that cause a problem??

if one rad is full of crud they all are
sounds like the system wants a good flush
if your feeling brave shove some fernox ds 40 in
the black stuff gets baked on to the tubes in the heat exchanger
bit like a kettle scaling up

i'l give anything a go is this a sinple job with plenty of instuctions?
do i just atach to a pipe and of it goes or is it a little more complicated than thathow can i solve the problem of the black stuff being there or am i stuck with it or does this flush through get rid of the crud? thanks for you help
john

also what is the sentinel equivelent?
is that easier or hard to do than the fernox version

I'll bet my fifty pence on the fan being on its way out.

Nothing to lose by dropping some 3 in 1 oil on the armature while you are in there. Don't do what I did and use a wd40 type stuff .. I didnt blow out the pilot first and the butane propellant ignited and turned into a genie which singed my goatee

if it is noisey when not in use will most probably be fan as this runs all the time to feed air to pilot try lubricating but will need changing
