The hot tap in our bathroom basin worked fine until a few months ago when it started making a loud rattling/vibrating noise when it is opened. The sound stops when the tap is opened to approx. 75% or more of the maximum amount. I've also noticed that it doesn't make this noise when the toilet cistern is refilling.
For information the hot supply is from a combi and no other hot (or cold) taps in the house have this problem.
When the noise first started I changed the tap headgear as I presumed this was the problem. I found that the old rubber washer had partially disintegrated but it soon became apparent that the problem still persisted with the new headgear in place.
I'm wondering if this problem is because the tap can't cope with the pressure and this is what causes it to shudder.
Any thoughts on what might be causing this would be greatly appreciated?
Thanks
Mike
