noisy plumming

please help we have the most terrible howling noise when we put on our taps,flush the loo, use the dishwasher or washing machine. we have a combi boiler.

When does this happen, is it when hot water or cold is used?

Have you a tank in the loft supplying cold water or has all your water been plumbed to come off the rising main and hot from combi?
Is your stoptap fully open?

if you had a combi boiler what do you have now

the noise happens when the hot and cold taps are turned on. The howling noise appears to come out of the kitchen tap and the bathroom tap when we want to use water, almost like there is an airlock spluttering the water out of the taps.
if the dishwasher/washing machine is filling up with water the same noise comes from the taps it also makes them vibrate!!!
the water is straight from the mains to the combi boiler.

Try either opening or closing your main stopcock a few turns
