Noisy water pump

We've just installed a twin impeller pump to our water tank to boost the pressure in our bathroom. Only trouble is all water leaving the tank goes through it and turns it on. So turning any tap on in the house (including flushing the loo) results in the pump turning on.

Problem is it is terribly noisy! It creates great pressure, but not sure we can live with the noise.

Any ideas on how to a) silence it or b) reinstall it to only activate on bathroom water needs?

Why was it installed on the supply to the whole house?

I'm guessing that it was because it was too hard to find the point at which the pipe to the bathroom (tees (i.e. diverges) from the supply to everywhere else, but this is the point that you need to find. If it's under flooring then clearly you'd need to run a new pipe back to the pump.

The information you've given is very sketchy - what was the original reason for installing the pump?
