i want to knock out a wall and need a hammer drill. There's a good one at lidl coming this Friday for 40 pound . Spec is good but it don't have a clutch. Given I only need for the hammer fiction- do I really need to invest more for a clutch function?
For demolition work I think I'd be inclined to hire a dedicated breaker, but I haven't seen the Lidl one you mention.....for £40 you can't go wrong!
The clutch is really there to protect the machine when drilling, and maybe also you if you are up a ladder or whatever.

Im pretty sure the clutch is only operational in rotary drilling mode so you should be ok for just using the hammer function. As advised above dont use it for any other risky drilling tasks.
