At football anyway it seems, out of the 112 times the top division has been contested North West teams have won it 55 times between them.
London teams by contrast have only won it 19 times, with only Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs ever having done so.
I don't know how many times midland teams have won it collectively, but I'd be surprised if it was more than the London total.
North East teams............don't make me laugh.
It's got that bad now that loads of southern pufters (spacecat, looprevil for instance) are having to chase glory following teams from up here.
Just thought I'd mention that.

We have better beer, better countryside, emptier roads and a higher standard of living in the NW than anywhere else as well.

I like the way the OP refers to the TOP LEAGUE and not the PREMIERSHIP because his shower of #%#t team have never won it.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics

Clearly UTD are miles ahead but chelsea and the gooners have won it handsomely as well

BIN DIPPERS...........ZERO

Typical glory hunting southern pufter man u supporter, thinks footy only started in 1992. Wot a blurt.

Fyi this thread was about the success of North West teams as opposed to everyone else, not Man U v Liverpool.
North West in this case means Lancashire, which no matter what the boundaries commission say now, includes both Manchester and Liverpool as well as Burnley, Preston, Blackburn etc.
I just wonder why one county should have so much success compared to every other county. Is it because most of you shirt lifters down there support Lancashire teams

Cage rattled

Don't jump out your pram, mind you it probably doesn't have any wheels

As for your argument football has always been more popular oop north

Probably due to the high level of manufacturing industry and mines in the old days, which lead to the formation of lots of clubs.
Also not much else to do as hub caps hadn't been invented

So there's historically always been more clubs up north than darn sarf then? hmmmm

Like I said.....wot a blurt.

Thick scouse chav does that list comprise the whole league?

1992 football stopped at anfield

This year maybe top 6

If you look at the founder members, it's quite apparent that folk from the North West and the Midlands had very little to do, other than play football, so had a bit of a head start on other regions. The southern's were too busy trying sort out what was going on in Whitehall and the Yorkies were getting prepared to dominate the cricket world.

Founder memebers;
Accrington F.C.
Aston Villa F.C.
Blackburn Rovers F.C.
Bolton Wanderers F.C.
Burnley F.C.
Derby County F.C.
Everton F.C.
Notts County F.C.
Preston North End F.C.
Stoke City F.C.
West Bromwich Albion F.C.
Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C.

No, just the clubs from your neck of the woods, they haven't done very well have they, for so many clubs.
Forgot West Ham.... 1895

This year maybe top 6

But he was right about the founder members was he not?

I was! It was founded in March 1888 by Aston Villa, other clubs may have been formed prior to that date, but the list I gave are the original members that joined up with Villa to form the football league.

Was he?? Where did he mention "founding members"? He wrote

I think if you look at the dates that just the London clubs were founded, that argument doesn't hold much water...does it not?
