"I respect anyone who chooses not to smoke, but I would also ask for the same respect to have the freedom to smoke in my own private vehicle."
You get more ridiculous by the day. This is an oft-observed phenomenon, is it?Depends how many are on the curb when he mows them down through lack of concentration.
And it's currently illegal to smoke in one's own car? Erm, no. He has a van, not a car, what's the distinction in your mind, then?He can't eat and drive or phone and drive - why should he be able to smoke and drive?
So taking out satnav, hands-free kits, wives, kids, pets, radios and CD players then, would be the logical extension of that, no?To diverge slightly from the point here, is it not the case that a driver, if smoking, compromises control over their vehicle. Thus it should be illegal for a driver to smoke per se?

Not one of those items is as distracting as dropping a lighted ciggy, which will happen, however rarely. No particular order, but why don't you have concerns about them, then? They are at least as distracting as you make the act of schmoking out to be.
Depends upon who is doing the concentrating.Shytalkz said:Rolling a fag whilst driving might be a bit problematic , but lighting a tailormade, wanging the ash out of the window and binning the butt in the same way is hardly using the majority of concentration now, is it?
