Nowhere to put the legs, and a big hole in the middle

I'm trying to design the framing to put a decking walk way at ground level around a small pool, but I can't find many places to support it. Does this look as if it will be OK, or should I have a re-think?

Thinks... Must turn off the decimals on my drawing package

when you say hard points what are you using for supports?

if you are limited then use 6 x 2 for the whole lot, it will need less support.

can any of the framing be attached to the edge of the pool?

you could put a few more supports in their at certain points, im just trying to work out how to mark them on the drawing, dependent on the answers you give to the above!

i think you may have bounce problems with the unsupported run (3562mm) on the far left of the image.

Unfortunately the edge of the pool will probably need support from the decking

I was thinking of resting the 6X2s on 600 square paving slabs set at ground level on concrete. the top of the finished deck is intended to be about 8" above ground level.

The pool is set about 3 feet down into a flint and clay sub-soil (more flints than clay) that needs a kango to dig out. ( I wondered why none of the fence posts anywhere around here seem to be set very deep  )

I might be able to set a couple of supports midway along the extreme left, and mid way along the lowest edge. My main concern is any settlement distorting the steel pool wall, so I would like to keep any supports as far as possible from the pool.

At the moment the right hand area has an 8' X 6' free-standing deck (no wall plate) built on 4X2s resting on house bricks spaced about every 2-3 feet. That seems quite rigid. That's what led me to consider using 4X2s.

That is one of my concerns, hence why I posted for comments. Perhaps if I run the second from left 6X2 straight through to the wall plate, and put a nogin where the top diagonal meets it would improve that aspect.

Put the legs over your shoulder... and as for the hole....

follow your instincts!!!!

why can you not get any nore supports down. i agree with noseall about the 3.5 m span. the rest doesnt look too bad.

Thanks Thermo and Noseall. I will see if I can dig out a bit adjacent to the pool to concrete some 4X4s in. With any luck, the hole was dug larger than the pool, then backfilled around it, otherwise it will be a right *£%*!&* to break out.

As I said, my main concern is any settlement of the ground around the pool buckling the steel walls, which look much too thin to support anything other than themselves.
