I have just had some work done to my kitchen which involved a spark coming round and doing some electrical work. he has put a 30ma main switch in the excisting MK sentry board i have. As apparently you cannot get separate rcbo's fo the individual circuits on a MK Sentry board (is this correct?).

The problem i have is, occasionly when turning the stairwell landing light on it takes the main switch out, what i have is 3 LV downlighters, this is only now and again once last week and once this afternoon.

Im thinking that the transformer is going down and taking the main breaker out?

when your rcd main switch trips is it taking out everything? ie no power to any circuit whatsoever?

Oh and your electrician has left you wth a non compliant installation.

if it takes everything out then as RF says, you have a non compliant installation. Get him on the phone(not RF) and quote reg 314.1 ie in the event of a fault the design shall avoid hazards and minimise inconvienience in the event of a fault. ie you should be left with other circuits to provide light at a minimum.

He maybe could have fitted an rcd spur somewhere in the circuit.
