Hi.
I had a decorator in recently who stripped some old blown vinyl type paper off my back bedroom walls using a wallpaper steamer. He then sanded and sized the walls which looked like bare plaster and put up new paper for me.
When he had stripped the room i noticed a strange smell, not disgusting, the only way i could describe it is a sweet smell. I do have a very sensitive nose.
Now that the new paper is on i can still smell it unless the doors and windows are constantly open. It gets more prominent when the room is shut up.
Does anyone know what would produce a sweet smell? Its definitely coming from the walls as if i stick my nose up to them it smells quite strong.
Is it the paste? Or could it have been the old paste reacting with the steamer?
