Second year in a row- Argos is the cheapest place I could find to renew my Office 365 Home subscription. Ebay and Amazon- the cheapest was £65. Argos, £49.99- bundled with Norton or McAfee. I suspect that each of the awful AV vendors subsidise the cost by a tenner.

It goes without saying that I won't be installing McAfee.

Thanks. Good shout.

That is only a one person licence and only works on w10 and w11 (up to three devices though- provided that they run w10/11).

It also only seems to offer the free level of MS cloud storage - from memory, that is 15Gb (and includes email storage). I have way more than that in my cloud space (admittedly, I could delete some). I have no idea how much the other people piggybacking on my account are using on their own (individual) terabyte space.

When on site, I occasionally, need to edit Excel or Word files. Office 365 allows me to to do that on my phone. The package you recommended will not.

I used to, cough, cough, PirateBay, Office in the old days, but the ability to access/edit files on my phone and laptop (and being able to text links to quotes without knowing the customer's email address) makes my life much easier. I could save about 20% (PA) by paying for Office 365 Personal, but 20% more, and I can help 5 other people.

I am not a fan of SAAS (software as a service- read subscription based), but I genuinely see Office 365 Home as being very good value.

Other people could get away with using free software such as Open Office and ThunderBird as their email client, and perhaps I could, but, meh, path of least resistance, and all that.

Hopefully, your post will help other people that do not need all the bells and whistles (that I have convinced myself that I need).
