Hi guys,

I had a thread here on sewer gas but as the topic has changed, I'll start a new thread for clarity.

I suspect the rubber seal on the pan side of a connector has perished a little and is not forming a good seal. Allowing a smell.

The waste pipe is at an upward angle which I suspect didn't help the seal either. I'm very high risk for covid and everything in general, so am in full isolation. Getting a plumber in is really gonna have to be last resort. But sewer gas in itself is also a ****e risk ;)

Given the nature of my health, I'd much prefer not have to take on removing the cistern and pan. But I'm assuming I don't really have an option.

I know my best option is probably to cut back the waste pipe. But I'm not really in a good position to do that. So I'm wondering would an offset connector work? Or would it fail as the pan outlet is lower than the waste. I know the flush likely won't be as good due to the uphill angle.

I've attached photos. Any ideas are welcome, the easier the better. I figure I better replace the close couple seal too if I'm taking it off. IMG_20210127_124332841.jpg IMG_20210127_123821767~2.jpg
