Hi

I have a question regarding chimney requirements for my oil fired boiler.

The boiler is located in the basement, and the flue goes up through the ground and first floors, and exits the roof in the middle of the pitch where it goes into a 6-7 ft brick chimney stack.

Due to some work we are doing on the house it would be beneficial if the chimney could be brought down so that the pot exits straight out of the roof without the stack.

Is this possible, and if so would the work need to be done by an oftec registered person?

Thanks

Check the installation instructions for your boiler. If you take the chimney down, you may need to extend the flue pipe to meet requirements.

In most cases this will be possible on an open flue boiler.

However, the detail is key and the flue is a vital safety device so an OFTEC registered operative should design and install.
