I've just moved into an old property which currently has storage heaters. We would like to install oil fired central heating, mid size tank in the garden, approx 10 radiators, 2 heated towel rails. 'Piece of string' question I know, but how much 'roughly' are we talking about to do this work? It's in the Tonbridge area, Kent. Any recommendations?? thanks.

Never mind what people here think about prices. It's pointless giving any info like this.

You should bear in mind that central heating is a major capital investment, with a possible life of 30 years. Meet some firms from your area, and pick the one you feel most comfortable with. DO NOT go for the cheapest just because they're cheap, or you will find out after why.

Think what you want. Do you want a combi (if you do, you deserve all you get, UNLESS you have a hot water cylinder as well). If you have only a combi, when the boiler breaks, you will have no hot water. (But I like combis because they give me lots of work. :) )

UNVENTED CYLINDERS, yes they give mains pressure hot water, and you don't need a header tank, but they MUST have a registered specialist to fit them, (it's the law, NOBODY ELSE is allowed to) they should be checked every year (more money) and the bits are expensive. Compare with an open vent system, once every 15 years, you may have to change a washer.
