Thought it was the ev but no water from valve. Let sys press down to 0 and disconnected braided hose at ev end. Water blasted out from ev but none from hose. Disconnected hose other end and jet of water from boiler. Hose gunged up with black stuff. Cleaned it out. System not back together yet - have to get some inhibitor but expect things will be ok.
