I am looking at the pros and cons of oil boilers to LPG boilers. Can anyone give me the a pointer as to whch one to go for?

Obviously everyone has there own preference but I'd go for oil every time - fuel prices are steadily rising but you can buy in bulk in the summer and save a bit....modern oil boilers are much more efficient than they used to be - either combi or otherwise. Cheers John :)

The answer depends if your minted or not  LPG is the best fuel but considerably more expensive than oil

LPG boilers are smaller and quieter and there are more to choose from. Annual servicing and maintenace are less as well.

There are also less environmental regs to comply with for the siting of LPG cyliners or tanks.

Oil...... IMHO , more reliable and easier to fix yourself.

I am just about to replace my old oil boiler and I considered LPG as well.

I went for oil mainly because if you go for LPG and do not want the expense of buying a storage tank you can get the fuel provider to install a tank pretty much free of charge but then you are tied to that provider.

i.e. if calor fitted the tank only calor would be able to refill it.

They offer you a cheap rate for fuel fixed for the first x amount of months but then in theory then they could charge you what they liked for gas as you couldn't shop around.

Oil every time, at least the suppliers are in competition.
