Hi,
we moved to the Czech Republic a few years ago, bought an old house with thick stone walls on the ground floor, and wooden logs, with plaster and reeds in between for some of the internal and all of the eternal walls on the first floor. You can probably tell that I don't know the correct name for this type of wall!
Anyway, I now need to repair / replace some of the white filler. I was thinking of stapling some of that net type of tape that is used to cover the joints between plasterboard into the recesses, to give any filler something to hold on to. Does this sound ok, or are there any alternative suggestions? I have kids that love to fiddle with this stuff, so it has to be fairly robust.
Next question is, what should I fill with? I have to do both internal and external walls. My dad suggested using expanding filler, and shaping it before it set, but I have no idea if this is a good idea, or how to do that. Also, if I did that, is there a specific type of paint that I should use to colour it white? Maybe plaster would be a better idea.
Hoping for some guidance,
Colin.
