Hi everyone, I live in a victorian terrace and I have an old electric cupboard which backs straight onto the neighbours electric cupboard. There are no bricks separating the two cupboards. The rest of the party wall is 2 bricks thick. Is this safe? Or if not how can I go about being able to move all of my electrics to another location so I can brick up the gap in party wall.

Right, that looks like it is the supply for next door as well.

Assuming next door is a mirror image of yours, that means quite a lot of work - as well as the DNO moving (and possibly separating) the two supplies.

Where would you want the new supply to be? The DNO might want to fit it outside.
Would you want the consumer unit somewhere else as well? Quite a lot of rewiring would be involved doing that.

Why did you actually want it moved?

I'm wanting to move it because of the amount of sound that comes through the cupboard from next door. I'd like to be able to move it and brick up the hole. There's only the wood at the back separating my house from the neighbours.

You could try to insulate the doors a bit to reduce noise or maybe even have a bigger cupboard made as currently your consumer unit is installed on it's side!
