Any tips in fitting extra fuse holders.
I have fitted a shower which is plumbed in and wire only to the 45 amp double pole switch.
The shower is 10.5kw and the cable i am using is 10mm, the problem is i can,t seem to get a 45 amp fuse for it as i am told that they are not used alot. the house was only built 10 yr ago.
looking for ideas on how to add a small box with an rcb so as to wire up power to the shower.

answer is you don't

you will have to get an electrician who will then fit new "tails" to the supply companys connector so you can have your shower

personaly i would have a new consumers unit fitted instaed

It is ok to use a 50A breaker because the shower unit is a fixed load - it always uses its full output (unless it has a heat selector switch) regardless of water flow.

If you can't find a suitable 50A device either, I suggest like breezer replacing your board, especially if the main isolator is less than 100A.

Need 100A main fuse & meter too - some old meters only rated 40A(contact EB for help).

THERE IS ALREADY 2 CONSUMMER UNITS THE TOP ONE FROM THE SWITCH HAS 3X30AMPS, 1X15AMPS & 3X5AMPS WITH 1 SPARE THE BOX IS RATED 80.
THE BOTTOM BOX HAS 5X15AMPS NOT STATED WHAT THEY ARE FOR AS THE TOP BOX IS THAT BOX HAS A SPARE AND IS RATED 80 AMPS.
HAVE MOVED THE LIVE WIRES ALONG ONE SPACE ASWELL AS THE FUSES SO AS TO LEAVE A SPACE NEXT TO THE SWITCH FOR THE HIGHER RATED SHOWER FUSE.
ALTHOUGH NOT A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN THE NUMBER OF 80AMPS ON THE BOX DOES NOT SEEM ABLE TO HANDLE EITHER BOXES, ALTHOUGH I KNOW YOU NEVER SWITCH EVERY THING ON AT THE SAME TIME ANY IDEAS. THE BOXES WERE INSTALLED WHEN THE HOUSE WAS BUILT.
AND IN ANSWER TO BREEZER I HAVE NO INTENTION OF TOUCHING THE MAINS FUSE AND WOULD LEAVE THAT UP TO A QUALIFED ELECTRICIAN I KNOW MY LIMITATIONS, THANKS FOR THE ADVICE ANYWAY.

no need to SHOUT!, and you would be surprised at what some people ask like how to change a consumers unit as if it is like a plug
