I have an old vctorian iron guttering that runs along the front of the house. It seems to be where the tw0 pieces join that water leaks and drips onto the front of the brickwork. I have had someone seal it with black gutter seal but it always seems to leak again.

Can anyone suggest anything that will do the trick. I am not too good with ladders so I really need to get someone out but don't want to get ripped off and I don't want it replaced with plastic.

Thanks.

A leaking gutter joints should be re-bedded with an oil putty to the stop leaks.

Then don't do it and you may not be able to if you live in a conservation area under planning law. The replacement parts of cast iron gutter are available from most builder merchants,

Something like plumbers putty should do it so the putty will not shrink or crack and it's waterproof etc
