Old plasterer

My neighbour has been doing some renovation work and need a room/ceiling plastered and after being recommended some guy turned up well into in his 70,s.... my neighbour said he looked as though he had just come from a nursing home... anyway guy looked at the job and agreed a price and plasterer turned up on the day to do the work in a old transit van at 8 oclock sharp... he asked to be left alone to do the work and had flask/sandwiches/radio with him... my neighbour said he was worried if he was able to do the job and would it be done right.. he finished it all by noon and asked my neighbour before he pays spend time looking over the job to make sure he was happy........ neighbour was delighted and commented on how professional it was he cleaned up after him and gave him a bit extra for a drink.. asked how long he had been doing it and he said over 50years and he felt like he was 20 again and in his latter years it was also giving him something to do rather than watch telly...he does not advertise and only work from recommendations... well done man

The best plastering I ever had done was by a chap in his mid-60s. The last thing you want is a lad learning on your job ...

Great story,,, I can vouch that age is no barrier to a plasterer. Knowlege and experience comes with age, and health is the key.

My sister has just give a ring for a job and he said it was his 3rd recommendation after doing the neighbours,,,, she has got to wait a couple of weeks though .. he said he always starts at 8.. finishes between 12-2pm.. drops his van off and meets his pensioner mates for a few pints in his local before heading home tea time... as you say you cannot beat experience
