:?: don`t know if this is correct forum but here goes.

I have an old Phillips reel to reel tape recorder (valves !) the wiring for the plug is coloured RED - BLACK - GREEN

Which colour is `Earth`

Which colour is `Neutral`

Which colour is `Live`

Ah! the SENSIBLE colours, carefully thought-out by our ancestors many thousands of years ago :)

Red = Danger
Green = Safe

How sensible and logical....

Unless of course you are red/green colour blind.
I dont know but perhaps thats why the colours were changed.

...yet they remain in use on traffic lights..... and rail signals.... etc etc
 
Its not so much of an issue there though since people can still see which light is on so as long as they know red is at the top and green at the bottom its ok
