old sanitary wear versus new?

Im doing up an old house which has seen some pain through the 70's and needs put back to its original look.

I am often seeing used sanitory wear, beautiful 1920's suites some with cast high level cisterns etc.

The cost of a typical WC and sink is around £250 but I am seeing the same style on Victorian plumbing for silly money like £125 etc

Obviously I would only buy anything used in top unbroken condition and would be renewing any flush mechanisms etc

I like the idea of having actual original items rather than new items styled but like some other items that we often say they dont make it like they used to:

Do you think the quality of the original stuff is actually better than modern made?

Thanks

The old fiddles play the best tunes. Give me a cistern with a ballvalve and syphon anyday, soon repair either part if need arises. There is some absolute rubbish on sale out there IMHO.

Gents thanks for your comments but when I am asking about quality I am specifically refering to the ceramics used in sanitory wear in the past compared to today and if there is any quality difference. Im not talking about flush mechanisms etc. Sorry I didnt make this clear in my initial post.

Thanks

Personally I think the older chinaware is superior to the newer stuff, like everything else these days, it was made to a standard in the past, now down to a price.... :(

I disagree - unless you got a top notch genuine victorian wc pan , you`d end up with a brown glazed stonewear - one with a white bowl and some flowers under the glaze , which would be crazed by now . I got one for £35 on eBay
