I realise that I'm probably going to leave out some important details  but here goes!!
I've a one pipe system and am trying to make sense of the multitude of pipework which is FAR from being one pipe around the hot water tank, actuator, pump etc.
Is there any way that a 'proper' c/h system would have a (22mm) pipe connecting the h.w. tank and a radiator? Ours does!!
Also - I tried to work on the system and drained it off; the c/h has been off for days but the water was VERY warm......
does all this spell disaster??
Many thanks for any opinions

Sometimes a rad was connected to the HW cylinder so that it was always on when the water was hot. Thats in the bathroom of course!

One pipe systems are troublesome for some professionals so I dont see you having much chance with yours.

That`s a secondary circuit ;) .....I love old systems .just re plumbed a lash up for a good friend How they get away with it I don`t know. But I know who did it and their house is bigger than mine

That's interesting stuff! Thanks to you both - nice to know that its not a COMPLETELY unknown lash-up and the house isn't about to explode.....
or is it?!!
  Thanks again!

Sorry you mis-understood..........a One piper is more likely to be done properly because it was used in a time when tradespeople took pride, and they(systems) need to be calculated correctly..........OK so they may not work so efficiently But I was referring to a lashed up 2 piper that the guy should`ve been able to do in his sleep  Like I can.......Point is he`s a true cowboy and been getting away with it for years..got rich and pillocks still employ him
