Hi there, I hope someone can help me.

I have recently moved into my house and found the double switch in my kitchen only worked for my kitchen light and not the outside light. After finding out it wasn't as simple as a new bulb I decided to get a new light. After connecting this up it now works however now my kitchen light does not work anymore. There is also a single switch controlling the kitchen light and this also no longer works.
For connecting the new outside light there was 6 black wires numbered 1-6 and a green and yellow wire. Looking behind the double switch wires 5 and 6 were connected to the switch and wires 1 and 2 were not connected to anything. I therefore connected wires 5 and 6 into the L fitting, wires 3 and 4 into N and green and yellow into earth.
Does anyone have any ideas why the outside light works but my kitchen light no longer does?

Thanks for any help.

You say 1 and 2 were not connected to anything but are they connected together ?

Are 3 and 4 present at the switch and if so where are they connected?

A clear picture of the connections behind both switches may help.

Fixed the issue, the live wire had came loose from when I pulled the switch out to look at the connections for the other switch. Thanks anyway.
