Hi, I've a Vaillant ECOTEC PRO 28 boiler that is ~4 years old, coupled with EPH Combi Pack 4 wireless thermostat. I bought this system with 10 years warranty and 5 free services.
In last year service, the key for magnetic filter went missing and the boiler installation company replaced my filter with Onyx Magnetic Filter that does not need a key.
The boiler was serviced again on Friday and it turns out that there was no water when the drain was openend at the bottom of filter. The magnetic pen sized filter taken out from top was clean as new and dry.

Before the service engineer left, he turned on the heat and the rads had started warming up before he left.
I even placed my hand on the filter and even that had begun to warm up, so I thought the engineer has maybe opened the valves fully now and water was running through its body finally.

Then we noticed later on Friday evening that the rads were cold, so checked that the boiler was still running(no error codes) and EPH thermostat showed the flame for CH demand.

The return pipe was stone cold and the flow pipe was lukish warm.

Opened the drain and top screw of filter and its still completely dry with both of its black valves open.

The DHW is running fine. While I am waiting for another service engineer to attend, can someone help me understand whats going on please?
