I have 600e water tank that is not heating water

The neutral wire had burnt through. I called an electrican last week who reconnected the the cable. the folloing morning, there was still no hot water, so Im assuming the immersion needs replacing?

Is it just a 3kw 11" immersion or is it 'special' as I spoke to elson and they quoted £50 + vat for the part.

Thank in advance

Why didnt the Electrian check everything was working satisfactorily after he reconnected the cable?

He checked that there was power going to it, but obviousley could not check if there would be hot water til the following morning

What does it say on the cap of the immersion heater?
The size may be on there or a part number that might give a clue to its size.

It may be that only the stat has failed and needs replacing.

A simple resitance test through the element would tell you if it was functioning correctly. From experience these elements are a bugger to remove and the copper tank is pretty flexible. Install a lime scale resistant incalloy unit to extend longevity. They use the standard element.
