Hi All

I've got an enquiry regarding open fireplaces in timber frame houses.

I'm looking to buy a new house (built 4 years ago) that is timber frame construction and was wondering if would be possible to retro-fit an open fireplace or woodburning stove? There is currently no chimney built into the house so would need to have one built. Is this possible to do?

Thanks in advance!

Rob.

Both are possible. You can buy system build kits, or have a woodburner with a double skinned insulated stainless steel flue without building a chimney which would be the cheaper option. The flue could go outside on the exterior wall if you wanted to avoid going through the floor and roof.
