Hi guys I need to run the open vent and cold feed coming off the flow pipe of a boiler approx. 3 metres.. will this be a problem... Initially they will raise up flow pipe about a 1metre but then need to run horizontally for the 3 metres or so and then raise up again to attic.

Not ideal but there is loads out there just like it with no problem

So in theory should work. I had another topic open based on the f&e tank only having 15mm cold feed but no vent, Im coming to the conclusion its a combined system but with plumber deciding NOT to do it in 22mm,, the boiler has a safety valve coming off the boiler so maybe he thought this was sufficient..

It is best to keep a gentle rise on the 'horizontal' sections, or run the horizontal section of the vent at above water level. It will still need insulating if in an unheated space.

What kind of boiler is it fella??

I cant be certain but think its a potterton prima f.... The safety is on pipework coming off boiler so why would that effect it if i where to seal it??

safety valves were usually fitted on older boilers which didn't have overheat protection,as its on the pipework its probably been on since the system was installed & the boiler is a later addition.A Prima f can go on a sealed system.

sweet.. should i leave the safety on it and just add a vessel...

yes exactly so no need for that safety then is there...

It will be best to plug it off as they often leak. You will need a pressure relief valve fitting to the system anyway with a sealed system.

Ach get British Gas in to fix it, they'll stick a tattie on it.............
