Having just moved into a property, and internet research discovered it is a 9448 Optima installed in the proeprty, no manual left and no code - how do i start using this- i have now downloaded the amnual and it asks for the 4 digits. I have no idea where the "zones" are. In fact i know nothing about it other than its a large box on the wall with a green light? any ideas ? or would i be better trying to find someone to come out?

It's either a Scantronic 9448 OR an optima ...they are two different alarm panels...try 1234 or 0123 ( default codes for both alarms )
Post picture of panel for further help

That's a 9448
If you do not have the user code it will need to be factory defaulted

Is there a manual on how to do that or is it a specialist we need?
The manual I got downloaded just tells how to input new code etc .but need to know the original code 1st...which we obviously don't know
Thank you

You need a scantronic 9448 installation manual
It will tell you how to default panel back to1234
You will then need to reprogram panel
It is simple t reprogram
Your panel is a 9448 and NOT a 9448+

Open panel
Down power mains and battery
Short RSTpins with small screwdriver
While short in place power back up battery first, code now 1234
Now reprogram as required

defaulting info in public never mind giving it out at all, given this is on the entry route as many of these panels are, the security system is compromised?

Not only that, this system is a vestibule/porch area and can be disabled and silenced very quickly.

Think twice before giving this information out public or privately.
