I am about to start the job of resetting an alarm panel that hasn't been used for nearly two years. (isolated from power supply by the fuse being removed) I have bought a new battery as I think it will require this.
The question I am seeking advice on is what does power down and power up specifically mean? Does this mean disconnecting battery or mains (by the fuse) or both? The manual doesnt state which or all.
Thanks

To power down a panel you would remove all power to the board , battery and mains. To power up just requires one of them , but I usually switch on the mains first , just in case the battery ( new or old ) has poor charge.Always take care around hazardous voltages.

Reasonable advise, but I would power up as recommended by the manufacturer, some say mains first, others say battery first.

Follow the manual.

By the way the manual says battery first.

Thanks for that Europlex..you are right as always ;) yes the manual says batts first , just ensure it has a good charge beforehand. The Optima will fire up no probs on battery or mains..it will run no problems on mains only...but give it a slightly flat battery and it falls over.If you are unsure around electrics then best to go battery first , in the interest of safety.

Batteries (alarm) are supposed to be fully charged for 24hrs before use.
