Options for escape route from GF flat with no rear door

Hi,

I'm developning a GF floor that will have no rear door. Building control want fire exit out the back so we have full opening windows, however the rear is a deep lightwell so nowhere for them to climb out to.

What options would people suggest ? My architect has suggested a door in the bathroom into a communal exit but this will look terrible.
