After painting some old fence panels in the garden a few months ago. We've noticed a lot of orange mould now growing. It's been painted with Ronseal fence life plus. Does anyone know what will stop the mould or get rid of it. Il wipe it off over winter but in spring il need to do something to treat it

Mould is common in winter and will die off in summer , why is it a concern , all my fencing has mold on it due to weather.

it is presumably in a very damp spot that never gets any sun?

you could have a look at the sources of water, such as a spilling gutter, nearby downpipe, wood in contact with the ground, upward-facing surface that collects rain.

There are some wood preservers that would help (they are deliberately made toxic) but you have to apply them to dry, bare wood and let them dry thoroughly.

No it gets sun. Well what of it their is this time of year and their are concrete plinths at the bottom so it's not touching the ground. Its just exposed to the weather like all outside fences. But this orange stuff has only started since we painted the fences. The fence could have been in 10 years plus and never been painted. We moved in a couple of years ago. We've replaced most but not got round to those yet so painted them for the time being

pictures would be interesting

while you're out there, see if you can stab a flat-ended screwdriver into the wood a few inches from the bottom.

you say "paint" but presumably you mean breathable fence stain?

Il upload some tomorrow. The mould growth is worst like on the joints of the waney laps. And its painted with ronseal fence life plus
