at work we smelled gas and the landlord got a gas fitter in when we all had gone home the cause of the leak was not found BUT he called in to question our 4 year old corgi certified instillation , stating "the socket is pointing down rather than up . i suggested this was correct to stop anything getting lodged in the socket jamming it open i was told i was wrong please advise

It should allow the hose to hang down so that it is not under any strain.
