We are renting a flat and have a problem with our boiler, which is a worcester 24i. The hot water is too hot and it is hard to have a shower without scalding ourselves (if we put the cold on it restricts the flow and becomes a dribble). We would like to be able to turn down the water temperature but do not have any kind of manuel/instruction book to tell us how to. Can anyone help?

Our landlord is in another country and is not bothered by our hotwater problems so any help would be great!

It sounds as if you do not have a gas safety certificate either! Thats required by law!

Your boiler does not have very sophisticed control system but probably has a fault or needs adjustment.

You need an experienced boiler engineer.

Best to get one yourself and deduct cost from the rent. Safest to get gas safety check too if he did not get one!

Thanks Agile, the whole tale is quite long but here goes, our boiler kept crapping out, one of us would be having a shower and then the water would go cold, whenever this happened we would call british gas and a boiler engineer would come out and try and fix it, they ended up replacing pretty much every part (over a two week period). The last time it happened (2 weeks ago), we seemed to get lucky and got an engineer that knew his stuff, he said something along the lines that our boiler is fine but our shower was restricting the hot water flow inevitably leading to the boiler overheating, he suggested getting a new showerhead (which we did) and turned the water temperature down (we were able to shower with just the hot tap on and the best pressure)... we had a week of great pressure and lovely temperatures, bliss! but now the water temp is getting hotter by the day and I'm worried that we will go back to square one... hoping that there is a quick fix to down the water temperature, any ideas.

Well BG are meant to give a guarantee with their work. That is not always so easy to achieve with some older models but thats not your problem. I would say call him back under their guarantee.

Until they get there you may find you get a better shower by turning on the basin hot tap a bit to create more flow.

As I said before your model is not one of the best at controling hot water temperature and it seems as if the BG men were struggling with the problem. I assume that is unusual but we hear of lots of cases here.
