Phoned up last Tuesday for an appointment with my own doc. Receptionist said that the first available appointment would be the following Monday(yesterday). "Fine" says I, "anytime at all will do" "Right" says she " could you phone back on Thursday to book the appointment" The worlds gone mad I thought, but I agreed. When I phoned first thing on Thursday there were no appointments left. Is this the norm for doctors appointments?

I'd have argued the point with her. She was probably new or didn't know how to go that far forward on the appointment system

I can book 6 months in advance at my dentists, and I have to as well, its that long to get an appointment.

I'm lucky, our doctor has an "open surgery" on most days, where you basically turn up and wait, the odd time I've been he hasnt turned up till about 10 - it opens at 9, makes you wonder what he actually does for his £100 + a year.
Its downright ridiculous that you have to wait so long, 6 days to see the doctor! unbelievable, as for the dum bird giving you duff info, maybe thats why its called a "practice"
