Hi, I have kitchen sink, outside gutter and washing machine all going into one outside drain (see pic) Stupid question but I'm going to have to turn water off and disconnect all those pipes/take them off then use a drain rod or plunger to try and clear it? Welsh Water said if they come out to fix it its around £160 as its a private drain. Anything else I could do?

Is there a manhole downstream? You might be able to rod upwards from that, no need to remove the pipes.

there's one about 8 foot away, is there any point trying any of those external drain unblocker liquids ?

8 foot isn't far. Presumably the manhole is empty if the blockage is upstream. I would try rodding from there. If you haven't got rods, pushing a running hose up might clear it.
I've used chemical sink unblocker, but don't know if there are products for drains.

Rods are cheap enough and usually come with different head attachments. Worth trying...

before attacking it from below with rods ( these may not work if the trap where the drains enter is a p or bottle tape) Try washing up liquid and boiling water added through the mesh to break up any fats.

Do you have a pressure washer, if so put it through the top cover and blast it for 20 seconds. You will probably clear it.

I’ve removed manhole and tried a hosepipe up the gulley , tried power washer from above also and no luck. I’ve bought standard rods from Screwfix but it’s just occurred to me watching various vids that are you supposed to just use them vertically, ie remove drain cover then plunge them down? or can you use them horizontally/ from below by removing manhole then sliding them up the gulley? (ooo errr missus)

Which ever way works, for best access. The thing is, always turn the rod end clockwise as you insert it, never anti-clock as it will unscrew and you lose the ends.

No good just putting the hose of a pressure washer in - they need a suitable end to be fitted, to create the pressure. They work with low flow, but high pressure.

Yea , I’ve got a K2 pressure washer will look online for suitable attachments

sorted it in the end, I bought a drain cleaner adapter and attachment for the Karscher K2 , tried it up the gulley from manhole - no luck, gently prised open the top drain cover in the pic in my first post and stuffed the cable and attachment down it and it cleared within a few minutes.
