We have one mounted on our back bedroom wall. It is supplied via a white flex, which comes into the kitchen by the window and has a plug on it. (takes up valuable plug socket in kitchen and looks hideous running down the wall)

Can I drill out from the bedroom fit an FCU next to an exising ring socket and connect the light to that? or does the fact that it is an outside light mean that I need a CP to do it?

(Personally, I'm not sure if the white flex is correct either for it's current use)

This suitable? Think I used a few years ago for a similar application.

Looking from the room today, I reckon that if I can position the FCU about 18 inches along from the existing socket, I can go straight out into where the back of the light is. In this case, do I need any special flex or can I just use cable?

Is there a regs problem putting a cable 18" across the wall between socket and FCU?
