outside light

the old outside light that was a circle has died ,
its going to be replaced with a pir floodlight , the light has a Small cable entrance that has a shroud and gromit.

the old light the t&e went into its rear casing , the new one is about 5 inches from wall.

to run this cable to the new fixing , am I better with a ip66 junction box with a rear entrance (still can't find a good one )
or use a shroud to cover the existing cable without box and run it to light?
