I want to place a new outside light to the back of the house with a new switch to be located below the light outside. Is it ok to link the light from an existing light in the house?

Also is it ok to have a weather proof switch below it using round trunking from the light?

It is acceptable to do it this way but you must know what you are doing to prevent water ingress. Adding the switch outdoors will also make this job notifiable to your LABC under part P of the building regs.

I didn't realise there was so much hassle to put the switch outside. I think I'll just leave it indoors.
Thank you very much for your help. :p

Not hassle. You need the same groundwork whatever the switch.

It's just that outside to need to use a waterproof switch & maintain the integrity of the IP rating.
