outside lights

hi.
we've just bought some outside security lights with a pir sensor to replace our old lights... inside the new lights there are just the 3 wires to conect (live, neutral and earth)... however, when i take the old ones down i can see 5 wires (live, neutral, earth... a red one and another brown one)

what do i do?!

Are you saying the cable supplying the PIR has got 5 cores, or that the old PIR has 5 wires in there, and you are not sure which wire goes where?

I'd say the 2 rogue cores, if connected together, are the switched live from the PIR to the lamp head.
