OUTSIDE PILLAR NEEDS FILLING-BUT WITH WHAT?

I have an old painted pillar outside my house in the porch area and when moving in the removers knocked it and it now needs a small chunk re-filling and smoothing over. If it was inside I'd do it with polyfilla - but can anyone suggest what I need for outside. The pillar looks like its sandstone underneath the paint - Many thanks Jenny
