My outside light with built-in sensor has ceased to work in 'auto' (i.e.sensor mode). The bulb is OK. The light works in 'on' mode (on all the time). There's no water ingress. So it seems the sensor thingy has gone. Help is there a way I can test the sensor ?

Thanks

Adjust the sensitivity control and see if that makes a difference. But there again, the things are so inexpensive these days, just replace it.

Most have a test setting where it can be used in daylight etc - usually activated by flicking the light switch a few times but differs for different fittings.
You could also check the wiring inside - should be a link to the sensor - maybe came loose etc?

As said above though, they are pretty cheap to replace.

Thanks people. Have wiggled and jiggled every control in sight and it's now back to normal (!?)
