I'm currently in the process of having a extension on the rear of my house and we're at the stage where 1st fix electrics has been done (by the electrician) and the platerboard has gone up (so no more chance of running cables etc).

My question is: I'd like to have an outside socket located on the other side of where an internal double socket is going and I wondered if its just a case of running a single 2.5mm2 t&e cable though the wall to one of these types of sockets:

Before I ask the builder / electrician I wanted to check here if its a simple job and then source the socket myself (to save costs etc).

Thoughts ?

A double pole switch would also be useful to isolate it in the event of water getting in and tripping the RCD.

And your electrician will almost certainly be able to buy the parts for less than you.

Possibly.

But if you deny him his markup, do you think he will:

a) just accept not earning so much, and seeing if that week Tescos will give him a discount on his shopping

or

b) just add it back in to his labour charges, at which point you'll be paying the markup on top of the higher price you paid for the parts.

?
