Is it water regs that a new outside tap installation needs an internal DCV? No one built in to the tap?

Have the double check valve on the inside and not in the tap, as the tap can freeze and ruin the valve in the tap.

Yes, it is in the water regulations. G.15.7.b - ".... they should not be located outside premises..."

As above if it’s for a standard garden tap domestic installation yes, as above, on new installations, it’s a requirement to be located internally. If it’s a replacement, then only where impractical to fit internally, can you replace with the tap type. If there’s going to be the use of fertiliser or it’s near a bin store, then speak to your local water undertakers regulations department, as these are whom enforce the regulations.
