Hi, first post, so please be gentle! ;)

We recently moved to a new house which is lovely and big(!) and I have started doing some little jobs around the house to spruce it up a little.
One thing I would like to do is sort out the 2 front steps up to the front door. This is basically 2 concrete blocks which although do the job and are good solid steps, don't look that pleasing on the eye!

So I was thinking of covering these with tiles of some thought.
I need some advice on what tiles I should use as the last thing I want is slippy tiles when they're wet, and secondly about which adhesive and grout to use (outdoor, waterproof, etc).

Any advice?
Thanks.

Generally quarry tiles are used on doorsteps. Just use a regular powdered adhesive and grout - they should all be suitable for exterior use.

my personal preference for outside steps are nice big thick slate tiles, you can buy a nice big chunk and get it cut down to the size / sizes you want

Thanks guys. I did see some large slate tiles at a garden centre last week and wondered about them, but they were quite large. Probably 2' x 1' and of varying thickness. How would I cut them? Angle grinder?

Also, can I get any of this material, including adhesive and grout, from any of the major DIY stores like Wickes or B&Q?
